Five Tips to Hustle the Heatwave

With the heatwave of 2018 not letting up, we know how important it is to stay cool while enjoying the sun. We’ve put together 5 lifesavers that can help you make the best of the season, from food and drink to clothing and lifestyle, have a browse...


Lots of water is an absolute must for heatwaves, but we’ve also been inspired by some refreshing Summer smoothies to help keep you cool from the inside.

Check out the Watermelon Frosty from 

* To a blender, add:
1/2 to 3/4 cup of coconut water or water
1/4 cup of fresh lime juice
1 peeled and chopped banana
Drizzle of Maple Syrup
3 cups of frozen watermelon cubes

* Blend until smooth

* Serve in glasses with a slice of lime and a paper straw! (consume on day of making)

… or the Mango and Banana smoothie from 

* To a blender, add:
1 peeled and chopped mango
1 peeled and chopped banana
500ml orange juice
4 ice cubes
* Blend until smooth
* Serve in glasses with a paper straw! (consume on day of making)

If you love to stay active through all seasons, remember how hot it gets during the middle of the day. Summer is the perfect season for fresh food. At Unoa we’ve been so inspired by different vegan recipes, here’s a beautiful quinoa salad we found at … (serves 4) 

* Ingredients:
3 cups cooked quinoa
1 large cucumber
10-12 cherry tomatoes
1 large red onion
1 can chickpeas
1/2 can black beans
1/2 can white beans
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Chopped handful of fresh basil leaves
Chopped handful of baby spinach leaves
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
Season with sea salt and black pepper
* Method
- Finely chop the onion, cucumber, tomatoes and mix with cooked quinoa in a large salad bowl
- Rinse chickpeas, black and white beans in a colander with cold running water. Drain thoroughly and add to salad bowl
- Add lemon juice, spinach leaves and basil, and season with salt and pepper

- Mix all ingredients well, serve immediately or cover and refrigerate to store
